OPEN CALLS
Encompassing the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, I Am and I Be will be an exhibition of artwork and film/video by women who use art to reclaim themselves, their experiences, their lives.
THIS CALL WAS ORIGINALLY RESTRICTED ON ARTWORK SIZE AND MEDIUM. PLEASE NOTE THAT THOSE RESTRICTIONS HAVE BEEN REMOVED AND THIS CALL IS OPEN WITH THE STANDARD EXHIBITION SIZE GUIDES FOR WALL ARTWORK, AND TO 3D/SCULPTURE ETC

Exhibition: 21 NOV - 19 DEC 2026
Submissions deadline: 24 OCTOBER 2026
Selected work MUST be hang ready and at the gallery between 9 - 14 NOVEMBER 2026.
COSTS IF SELECTED (this is a 4 week show and costs include an exhibition catalogue):
£40 per selected artwork for the main space
£20 per selected artwork for the window-based dollhouse
Please note that artwork that can't be collected from this show will be returned by post at the beginning of the New Year.

This is a call for artwork responding to the exhibition title and open to interpretation. All submissions will be considered.

As many of you will know, I recently did a social media post listing what goes into running The House of Smalls, which somewhat underlined my perpetual panic regarding the financial stresses of keeping THOS going. I find it very difficult to ask for help but so many people responded with brilliant ideas to raise some funds (including a coffee/tip link which I will add to the website), and I really liked the idea of a postcard fundraiser but with a dollhouse twist as suggested by Sal Jones, as, after all, that's where THOS began.
So. I have no idea how this will go, but this is a call for 10cm x 10cm dollhouse art donations to help raise funds for The House of Smalls.
Each tiny original artwork will be for sale at £20 and sold on a first come first served basis on the night. Artwork will remain anonymous, with artists' names revealed once the work has been purchased! All funds raised will go towards keeping The House of Smalls visible with a high street presence and exhibitions. All unsold work will be added to the website for sale as part of the fundraiser.
Every small artwork makes a difference and if you can't donate, please share this with anyone who might be interested.
